Canadians deserve a secure and dignified retirement after a lifetime of hard work and contributions to our society.
Yet with a growing senior population, many Canadian seniors are struggling to afford housing and stay in their homes for as long as they would like.
Our government believes that access to safe, affordable housing for those who need it most is an important component to strengthening the middle class. Therefore, we are committed to investing over $200 million to build, repair, and adapt affordable housing for seniors. 5,000 senior households are expected to benefit from this programme that promotes inclusive growth
We are also consulting with Canadians and housing experts to develop a National Housing Strategy that will make a real difference in the lives of Canadians through better, more affordable housing and that truly meets the needs of our growing senior community.
And that is why we have strengthened the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).
Now, Canadians will be able to count on a higher pension amount of up to 50% more when they retire. With the enhanced CPP, our children and grandchildren will have a better and more secure future.
